Going on right now and fortunately I’ve got a clear view overlooking the city of this natural wonder. Eclipses occur only at full moon when the sun, Earth and moon are in a perfect line. The bodies are aligned and won’t be again until 2010.

As I’m watching it tonight, the fluctuations in the atmosphere create interesting patterns and flares of red to white light on the surface. It’s like a bloody fire ball in the sky.
