…a Florida Gator.
I didn’t go to Florida U. I’m a California kid that went to a D I-AA football school where most Saturdays we were recovering from Friday or watching any other football team at the bar or at home – they were giving away tickets to the home games and still couldn’t fill the student bleachers. But since I’ve moved to NY, I’ve hooked into a crew of friends that went to UF and have been following the games every week at the Gin Mill. Consistently there’s never a disappointment as the Gators thrash another “tough” opponent in the SEC. With the failings of USC, Florida gets the much deserved BCS championship shot.
Every media outlet in the country continued to ride the Buckeyes small c, predicting the Gator’s fall. Was there no media shot given to the SEC conference teams? Where they so blind to the USC-Michigan-Texas-Ohio drama to even consider another option? Was there a conspiracy, or was it justified? I honestly couldn’t argue any point as effectively as a few of my “masters of UF football” friends. The casinos even were giving a 7 point spread to Ohio and I would have taking that bet 6 ways to Sunday. Never giving a full credit to the strength of the SEC schedule, and the Gators defense…the results showed the truth: a 41 to 14 stomping of Ohio.
Who out there was yelling “Heis-man!…. Heis-man!…. Heis-man!….”
