April 1st season opens

Tennis Anyone?April 1st the courts open up and its time for a little tennis. This year I’m incented more to work out and get active … especially since I got those cholesterol results last Nov. Well I have a few friends around the city that play but they have yet to set anything up for me… maybe its the prospects of playing with a former HS star. That’s right, ala Al Bundy, I go around spitting my stories of the high school glory days…

On the subject of tennis, a few friends and I got together in the afternoon last weekend and found a great spot for indoor gaming with drinks! The Fat Cat in the West Village, is an underground mecca for billiards, table tennis, foose ball, and a plethora of board games… Supply the patrons with beer and 5$ an hour gaming (or some 4$ an hour internet access) and you have the 30-somethings geek heaven… I’ll still be there for some games to start off a day but if you want a match up of Beirut you’re best off going to Off the Wagon or Jake’s Dilemma.

Double Down in Vegas

Double Down SaloonJust back from an excellent trip in Vegas. Not too much to report but a lot of drinking and too much gambling. Too much because I came back in the negative this time around and I knew I should have stepped away from those BlackJack tables earlier with winnings…

One highlight for several of the boys was one of my favorite dives in Vegas the DoubleDown. You get a chance to get off the strip go take a look and have some of their Ass Juice! Great selection of tunes on the Jukebox and cheap beers which was great after getting the shaft at the tables… some how the free ones in the casino just don’t taste so free after a loss.

Happy New Year 2006!!!

What a year… I just completed my first year in NY… braved a “mild” winter by NY local standards, landed a job at a huge international electronics corporation, squandered insane amount of cash “living” in my shoe box, feeding on Ethiopian to Danish to Chilean to Korean food and everywhere in between, never drank n drove – but certainly failed to make it home with out a bruise or scratch on the walk home, broke my arm in the Ice “snowboarding”, walked through a transit strike and witnessed our country further depleted its economic, educational, and natural resources…

We picked up a hotel at the Argent near Union Square in SF with a nearly top floor view of the Union Christmas tree display. I gathered with a group of good friends and we hit DNA after some heavy pre-holiday cocktails at the hotel… The count down was botched but the music of Lee Colmes, Dylan Rymes, and Bassbin Twins was insane.
