Scolded for being Frank

It wasn’t the first time I’ve been pulled aside. I rarely get approached with the leading “Austin we need to have a talk..” Well today I was pulled aside again for what I feel is being too passionate about my job… Some people see it as being too stressed…maybe…some say I’m an asshole…probably true if you’re dumb or deserve it… some say I need to relax… Fuck it , I can’t… I work on a level of stress and passion that gets me the rep of the year status… something I received for 2003. I want things done thoroughly, quickly and effectively to completion – if you don’t like my suggestions then prove me wrong with you’re own methods; right now they don’t seem to work.

So what happened? We’ll I’ve been a little too vocal lately at work about issues and red tape at work. I’m saying cut the bullshit, let’s figure out a way to do something more effectively and do your job to your best ability or find a new one. The people that are threatened by this are understandably concerned. Either they really aren’t doing the job they are supposed to do, they just don’t want to have that spot light put on them because they really don’t have a functional job here, or they just don’t like me. Any way you cut it, I don’t give a fuck.

If I have a customer, a customer that could be doing hundreds of thousands of dollars in business with my company, and they have a seemingly easily fixable issue or request, why isn’t it a resonable request to express some urgency to assist them.

This isn’t the single issue. I’ve made considerable personal requests to get assistance to grow my business with little or no help from other teams. So, again understandably if you’re not helping me, I’m going to your boss (or someone else) and if you don’t like the reasons I give them for me taking the request up the ladder then you shouldn’t be giving me the reasons to move around you. I guess people don’t like the ol’ UTB treatment (under the bus).

I guess they don’t like my “New York” attitude of being blunt and to the point. I don’t have time to fuck around with the bullshit. If I come to you for something either help me or point me in the right direction. Don’t give me empty promises. I need results. Call me an asshole… It’s business not personal. Get over it and yourself.

I guess I might actually have something to say and I’m getting quieted. I guess I’m not playing the “political” game appropriately. Since I feel personally responsible for the promises to customers that I make for other people, and they don’t come through with those requests, my credibility suffers. In my job, credibility and respect carry A LOT of weight in my field. We don’t build relationships with people that don’t hold their word or can’t come through with their agreements.

Fuck em. You’re always a target at the top… So I’ll relax but don’t come to me for help. Don’t come to me for advise, and don’t fucking come to me unless you’re gonna help me make money – I don’t have time for you.

Where’s my deal!?

Easter Island Sunday

So how many of you are just worthless sheep that are going through the motions of Easter because it’s another one of those stupid family holidays… I know who you are and how you think…I was probably one of them… Yet my education has evolved and now it’s still a family holiday more than a religious one, I still respect the evolution of this fine time. See who knew a bunch of Aliens would bring stone statues and colored egg bearing rabbits to our planet on the same weekend. I just hope they are not taking notes from Martha Stewart.

Did You Know: The Celts, practiced a religion called Druidism which revolved around the beliefs in a many god mythology. It was believed that evil spirits captured the sun god and thus lay upon our planet the season of winter. Around the beginning of Spring, they would light up huge bonfires to frighten the evil spirits into releasing the sun, and have an another excuse to drink lots of Ale and throw slabs of beef and lamb on the fire. I’m surprised Nantosuelta couldn’t resist the play but ya know I really didn’t read that far into Celtic mythology. The point: The lighting of bonfires are still a part of Easter celebrations in some countries today such as in Germany and Belgium. Today, these bonfires represent the light coming to the world through Christ. Ironic how some Catholics took this ritual from a Pagan religion but I think humans are typically pyromaniacs.

If you don’t know what Easter is like for many multi-cultured Americans, here’s a quick education on Easter artifacts: which can give you a 5th grader explanation to all things Easter, rather than touching of the Christian importance/beliefs of renewal and new life after death. I’m all for new beginnings and it just so happens I believe in some form of resurrection, but it would take many beers and much more than a journal post to go that deep.

Morse Code for UPDATE!!!. A language born out of deliberation, wonder, technology and inspiration. With very little necessity in mind, Samuel Finley Breese Morse developed the telegraph and the code which slowly took over the world as the first means of instant communication between two distant locations. And Now? … This is all but a dead language, except for the occasional movie about a POW locked away with nothing but rocks and water pipes running through his penitentiary. Latin is another “dead language”, however, after some careful thought and reading; I wondered why. It may have been forgotten because of our culture’s “verbal maturity” but it truly is a foundation of our [English] language (and many others). By nature I love to find out how things operate. It’s probably why I studied to be an engineer. But even more glorious than mechanical construction, would be to know how our own English language originated and developed. If I had been taught Latin before reading all that Plato, Aristotle, and Charles Dickens, like most students, I would have obtained a much better grasp of understanding dialect and prose. As the Roman poet Virgil put it “Fortunate the man who can understand the causes of things.” This is the article that spurred my thoughts this evening: “Bring back Caesar’s tongue” Please read and educate yourselves.

This weekend was a much deserved; relaxing and personal. *think loungin’ with books, a Spartacus movie, and some turns* I updated some of the site by ripping some image map code and I decided the color needed to be brighter. On some monitors this site may look a little “cloudy”, but as soon as I get back to Photoshop it will be all good!

I also completed the move of my pics to a new online album. I added some pics of my vacation in St. George, UTAH. I’ll post my article reviewing the Green Valley Spa, regardless if it gets published or not. More background to follow, but for now check the pics.

The Utah Desert

I uploaded pics of the White Water Rafting trip I had two weeks ago. Still feelin’ the rush of those IVs!

Water fights all down the river. Like we couldn't get wet enough.
