Personal Ramblings

Don’t you ever feel torn between multiple paths – different rights and wrongs? Your space, your job, your friends, your family and your “formal” education bring it all into play. What you want may not be what is responsible, “right”, or plausible but you still hope that it can be achieved? Where is that point were you just say WTF? Why is that not part of most people’s repertoire of thought? Most of the time it is in mine, shoved in some memory closet of my mind, but that voice called a conscious brings be back to responsibility when ever I don’t want to show up to work or play the game or discipline myself from my financial engagements. It seems that money is the cage that hinders my visions, but I really think it’s my own perception of that cage forced into my mind by society, like Christianity on the Native Americans, that keeps me entertaining these thoughts. We are all bread and raised to think we are going to be great, Rockstars, or even just popular…Then the majority of us get jobs that really don’t mean anything. What am I working for? To pay my debts, to buy a better life or to live it? Where is my life going? And what does society ask of me? “So where are you going with this whole career thing?” …… too many questions…..maybe you have the answers…. What’s with this intellectual rhetoric lately? This is supposed to be a forum of interest not preaching. Well I often entertain many powerful thoughts of Tyler Durden (Fight Club). One relevant quote :: “Fuck off with your soap units and string bean stripe pads. I say never be complete. I say stop being perfect. I say let’s evolve! Let the chips fall where they may!”

Don’t you find it ironic that the very institutions that instill and perpetuate the desire to collect consumer goods that aren’t really necessary are the same people who make films like Fight Club? A film, which in many respects goes against the grain and openly, challenges consumerism. You got to love the media!

Well as a disclaimer, I have to say this is actually the first time I have had a high responsibility job, and I absolutely love it. I like the challenge of it despite the fact I am feeding the consumerism. I justify it because I provide a solution that promotes security and solidarity of capitalism, rather than trying to just make a quick buck. Besides my company is number one in our market! We all wish we had those 4 day work weeks though…2 years…2 years…tick tock…

Morse Code for UPDATE!!!. A language born out of deliberation, wonder, technology and inspiration. With very little necessity in mind, Samuel Finley Breese Morse developed the telegraph and the code which slowly took over the world as the first means of instant communication between two distant locations. And Now? … This is all but a dead language, except for the occasional movie about a POW locked away with nothing but rocks and water pipes running through his penitentiary. Latin is another “dead language”, however, after some careful thought and reading; I wondered why. It may have been forgotten because of our culture’s “verbal maturity” but it truly is a foundation of our [English] language (and many others). By nature I love to find out how things operate. It’s probably why I studied to be an engineer. But even more glorious than mechanical construction, would be to know how our own English language originated and developed. If I had been taught Latin before reading all that Plato, Aristotle, and Charles Dickens, like most students, I would have obtained a much better grasp of understanding dialect and prose. As the Roman poet Virgil put it “Fortunate the man who can understand the causes of things.” This is the article that spurred my thoughts this evening: “Bring back Caesar’s tongue” Please read and educate yourselves.

This weekend was a much deserved; relaxing and personal. *think loungin’ with books, a Spartacus movie, and some turns* I updated some of the site by ripping some image map code and I decided the color needed to be brighter. On some monitors this site may look a little “cloudy”, but as soon as I get back to Photoshop it will be all good!

I also completed the move of my pics to a new online album. I added some pics of my vacation in St. George, UTAH. I’ll post my article reviewing the Green Valley Spa, regardless if it gets published or not. More background to follow, but for now check the pics.

The Utah Desert

I uploaded pics of the White Water Rafting trip I had two weeks ago. Still feelin’ the rush of those IVs!

Water fights all down the river. Like we couldn't get wet enough.

Godsmack

Last Tuesday I checked out the Godsmack show at Shoreline Amptheater. Despite the fact that one of the Deftones members was sick and they didn’t play, the show was sick. Puddle of Mudd started and I think CYK played too but I think I’d rather pay 8 bucks for a Pyramid and chill at the bar. I think the majority of the crowd was there to see Deftones but it didn’t matter and the pit showed. Some classic metal concert antics, pyrotechnics, fire balls, and a crazy medieval stone stage definitely elevated the anguish and energy in the crowd. They played most of the popular stuff of their first album and some new angrier tracks from AWAKE. This was virgin Godsmack show, as it was for most people, but I’m sure if they come around again I’ll check them again. You should too damn it!!!

“I’m not one to dick around. We want to get people on their feet immediately and just bash away.”
